The Harvest
Harvesting time is at hand in Canada. In the prairie provinces, as far
as the eye can see, the grain stands ready to be gathered in. For months,
the farmer has been watching the skies anxiously for signs that might indicate
the prospects of the crop. Now the vigil is over and a combination of man’s
labour and a benevolent nature has bestowed the blessing of another harvest.
Canada’s great grain-growing provinces — Manitoba, Saskatchewan and
Alberta — each have an area of about 250,000 square miles or 647,500 square
