Bridges in Canada

The importance of bridges in Canada has grown with the expansion of the

+ country. Today, as always, they meet the challenge of seemingly-impenetrable
barriers of water and deep mountain gorges. They are the doorways to most
towns and cities. In a country of Canada’s vast size and geographical variety,

* good bridges are a prime essential of economic progress. The country’s steady
advance, therefore, is proof of how well Canadian bridge-builders have carried
out their work over the years. From the simple wooden structures of years
ago, bridges in Canada have evolved into the massive spans of iron and steel
now found in all parts of the land.
