The Holiday Season in Canada
Canadians mark the Christmas and the New Year season in a variety of ways.
At Christmas time, the celebrations are characterized mainly by church-
attendance, family reunions and gift-giving, but as New Year’s day draws
near, there is more emphasis on gaiety. Many Canadians use their days off
from work for a brief skiing vacation. Others, living in the country or in small
towns, take the occasion to visit the big cities. Everywhere, the predominating
sentiment is "Peace on Earth, Good Will toward Men”.
