SPRING COMES TO CANADA

Signs of spring are everywhere in Canada these days.
In the parks and gardens of cities and towns, Nature has
replaced her white winter garb with textures of green;
and in the great open spaces, skiers have given way to
hikers and sun worshippers. A busy winter of tree-cutting
in the wooded areas is now over and, with the break-up
of the ice in the rivers, a vast mountain of logs starts its
watery course to the mills. The world-famous inland ports
of Quebec and Montreal join the all-year-round coastal
ports, such as Halifax and Vancouver, to speed the move-
ment of goods and people to and from Canada. In short,
everywhere in Canada the recreational and industrial
activities of winter are being succeeded by those of the
other seasons.
