Christmas Broadcasts

Every year on Christmas day Her Majesty the Queen broadcasts to her
peoples in the Commonwealth. All around the world the familiar voice of the
Queen brings a Yuletide message into the homes of her subjects throughout
this great family of nations. In Canada the Queen’s Christmas message is
broadcast by radio stations across the country and is transmitted by shortwave
to isolated communities in the North and to our servicemen stationed in
Canada’s arctic regions.

In its regular shortwave broadcasts the CBC International Service
describes Canadian life during the holiday season with all its colorful
festivities. A special service makes it possible for newcomers to Canada and
NATO trainees to broadcast greetings to friends and relatives in their home-
lands.
