OLD DENMARK,
ES 3
I.
Oi Denmark is the noblest land,
Aye freemen plant her shore;
Ne’er bent she yet to Conqu’ror’s. hand,
Nor shall, for evermore.
Sing hey, sing ho!
Sing the Woods and Isles of Denmark!
IL
’The North-Sea wide and the Baltie’s wave —
How they clasp her round and round,
As to” each green strand and oöcean-eave
Her sea-sprung fame they sound!
Sing hey, sing ho!
Sing the Woods and Isles of Denmark!
III
When Thor and Oden rul’d the North,
And Frey, — God frank and free — >
Denmark her thousand Chiefs sent forth,
And far lands bow’d the knee.
Sing hey, sing ho!
Sing the Woods and Isles of Denmark!
IV.
Viking and Sea-King plough’d the deep,
Their home the billowy blue,
And — where the Danish Ravens sweep
Flies Danish Vietory too!
Sing hey, sing ho!
Sing the Woods and Isles of Denmark!
