dolichocephal, brachyocephal &c.

drage nogen slutning.

Kristiania i maj 1881.

where it must have made walking very difficult. It has
besides this also existed in the joint of the jaw, in the
occipital joints, the whole right shoulder-joint, both
the hip-joints, the right knee-joint and the left foot-
joint, that is to say in one word, in each of all the joints
discovered, and it is therefore easy to suppose, that the joints
wanting, have also been more or less affected. Other
parts have also been attacked; for most places where
muscles, tendons or ligaments are fastened, appear very
protuberant from a sickly newly formed bony substance.
We may consequently conclude, that the man has been
a great sufferer from rheumatism in the muscles (Rheu-
matismus chronicus muscularis).

As I have nothing to judge from but the discovered
remains of the back part of the head, I dare not express
any opinion regarding the shape of the skull, whether doli-
chocephal, or brachyocephal.

Nor do I feel able to draw any conclusion as to the
cause of death.

Christiania May 1881.

All the figures show the powerful construction and
the uniform pathological character of the bones. The
prominent muscle-insertion &c. as also the new bony
formation along the insertion of the capsule of the joint,
are visible particularly on figure I and on figure 3.

The humerus, seen from the front.
The scapula, seen from behind.
The basis cranii, seen from below.

knee-joint.
