her—the Lord is her husband. And she, who once went to throw
herself in the natural and eternal death, now enjoys both the natural,
the spiritual, and the eternal life. This is the work of our Lord, and
it is a wonder to our eyes.

This may be enough for to-day. The question of religious liberty
in our country has more hopeful prospects than ever, as, at the
command of our new king, a new proposition for a dissenter-law has
been presented to the High Court of Justice, in order to be examined
and placed before the Diet, which is to be opened this autumn. We
have more hope than before that it may go through.

As I said before, our friend the Rev. Mr. Scott will certainly tell

about these. May God bless all you undertake in the service of his
kingdom.

Your Monthly Review, which I now receive more regularly, shows
me that your field is very extensive and that your work is directed
especially against the corruptions of the Romish Church, which you are
seeking to save or to reform, and in the true spirit of charity as
expressed in your motto, " the love of Christ constraineth us."

Since the departure of the Rev. Mr. Scott from our country, I have
only made two missionary excursions. The rest of the time I have been
occupied in Stockholm. During these two journeys, of which the first
(lasting ten days) was directed to the west of the Capital, and the other
(lasting six days) to the South, I saw the most encouraging proofs of
the revivals which are taking place in our country. Crowds of people
