with them to bee engaged unto the worke & to undertake the further
prosecuting of it towards others, which good disposition lest it might
bee quenched if it should want fewell; I haue laboured to kindle
it, submitting two Theologicall Consultations to their iudgments; the
one is concerning Points Fundamantall in Religion, what & how
many they are? Wherin I determine nothing but only proceed
Problematically upon certain infallible & cleere Principles; y:t from
thence they may take hintes to gather conclusions. The other is
concerning the way & meanes of aduancing the worke to a full
period. These writes are prettie large, & therefore can not bee
sent by post; neither did I think it fitting to trouble your Grace
with them, they only serue as occasions sought to bind these men
to a setled treatie in this worke; wherin if they doe but continue
as they haue begunne; & if the L:d Chancelour doth performe as
hee doth promise; I make no doubt of gaining all my desires here;
& making this Church the Chief instrument to draw on all the other
Lutheranes to some reasonable termes of agreeme[nlt. But tyrne
must bring all thinges to maturitie. This winter if there bee a Dyet
called in this Kingdome; the Clergie will meet & consult upon the
businesse; if not then I purpose to go for Denmarcke God willing:
for the L:d Chancellour did this day when I made relation to him
of my proceedings, intimate y:t the gaining of that Church also
would bee very usefull & requisite. All these endevours are but
small preparations for a more public undertaking w:ch will require
in due tyrne your Grace his wisdome, Authoritie & favour to which
I desire to bee recommended; who am in all duetifull respects

Most Reuerend Father in God,
A moneth ago after my returne from the iourney w:ch I made
towards the vniuersitie of Vbsall & towards some other Div[ijnes &
Prelates of chief note in this Church I wrote & gaue your Grace a
summary account of the effect of my negotiation; w:ch was more
effectuall then I my self did expect it should haue beene: because
it hath brought them all to a reall engagement & consultation in
the worke; so y:t I find a remarkable propensitie continuing towards
