of Vbsall to see how matters of Doctrine in difference may bee
composed by some fundamentall Confession & agreement; & then
also the L:d Chancellour must haue a sight of those writes, w:ch
Sr Thomas Rowe did promise in yowr Grace his name should bee
sent ouer to me, containing the Description of the Gouvernment of
our Church.

I am now in the way towards Vbsall, & haue since my
departure from Stockholm, gained the consent of the two chief
Bishops of this Church towards a further proceeding in this worke, &
to bring matters to a point, they are willing to haue the
prepara-tifs made by the Professors of Divinitie in the Vniuersitie of
Vbsall ; y:t so at a more Generall meeting the rest may receiue
information from them; & approue of y:t w:ch shall bee found most
expedient to bee done. At this meeting I suppose a full rise will
be giuen to proceede more openly; in the meane tyrne I will expect
the writes touching our Church Gouvernment, & will labour to
facilitat the way for futur intentions of a more public nature: in
these I will also expect in due tyrne some directions, for when
matters shall come to the public relations of states & Churches one
towards another, I will bee out of my element, which is only fitted
& exercised, to a priuat Theologicall way of treatie. But then as
then: now I take my leaue & rest Yowr Grace

his Most Humble Seruant in Christ
John Durye.

From Westerose this Jj of April 1637.

To [Thomas RoeJ.1
(Västerås, April 1637.)

Westerose |j Aprill [1637].

Since the 25 of march I have beene in a kind of p[ro]gresse
with the Lord Chancellour for hee was pleased to take mee a long
with him in his coatch y:t in this his Journy & visitacon of divers
places I might have occasion to discourse with him aboute my busines
& Informe him of the p[ar]ticulars w:ch at Stockholme by reason
of the multiplicitie of other publike affairs hee could not take notice
of; now to tell you all in one word, I suppose I have gayned my
Intencon vpon him w:ch is to dispose the clergy here soe farre as
hee can & to make the worke publike in due tyrne but before hee
should come to make such a mocon I must treate first vpon some
doctrynall matters more distinctly & p[ar]ticularly with the [-p[ro]-fessors-] {+p[ro]-
fessors+} of the vniversitie of Vpsall, to see by what meanes the
diferences of opinions may bee composed & taken out of the way
by some fundamentall confession & agreem[en]t.
