Now I am in the way to p[ro]ceede to the first[,] for the two
Cheif b[isho]p[s] y:t are next in eminencie to the Archb[isho]p (of
w:ch the one is hee y:t is now designed Archb[isho]p) haue given
there consent y:t the matter should bee referred vnto the p[ro]fessors
of Vpsall, y:t they might prepare things for a larger meeting to bee
ratified therein. This meeting was once appoynted to have beene
held in February last past, but for certayne reasons it hath bene
hitherto deferred a[nd] p[er]haps wilbe yet defered a while: by all
this you see how farre wee are come, I can make no further
overture till I have tryed those of Vpsall or till the meeting be called
from w:ch p[er]haps a full rise wilbe given to p[ro]ceed more openly.
In the meane tyrne I will labour to facilitate the way for future
Intencons of a more publique nature; In those matters I will also
expect in due tyrne some direcons from you, for when matters shall
come to the publique relacons of states & churches one towards
another, I wilbe out of my element w:ch is only fitted & exercised
to a private Theologicall way of Treatie, nay I have just cause to
suspect my selfe in matters of publique relacon from which I will
rather seeke to bee wholly exempted, y:t I may walke in my owne
sphere of realitie in religion to deale closely with divines; as for
other matters I app[re]hend them as dangerous for to bee medled
with all but wee will leave the thoughts of future Contingents to
god who only can determine what shall beecome of them.

Viri, in hisce appositis chartulis, ea quæ apud alios in hoc Regno
& Ecclesia Primi Nominis Viros, prosecutus sum in Pacis Instituto
consilia, ab eo tempore quo hinc discessi. In ijs videre potestis,
quid apud Illustriss:os Regni Ephoros egerim hactenus: quid apud
præcipuos Ecclesiæ hujus Antistites, quid apud Vos in posterum
agere velim. Scopum ergo meum agnoscetis esse, quod Fundamentis
in Scripto mihi, å Pietate Prudentiaque V:ra de Pacis Ecclesiasticæ
Conditionibus communicato, propositis, Superstruere cupiam
particu-lariores Tractationes, & rerum Scopo propius asseqvendo
necessaria-rum utilissimas Considerationes: Eæ Positiva Concordiæ in
Evange-lica Veritate procurandæ Media complectentur: ut scilicet ex ijs
