MYSTIKENS VÄG OCH MÅ I

mästarens bild skall ständigt havas för ögonen, lärjungen får ej
tänka på annat. Naturligtvis erhålla under sådana
omständigheter schejkens ord en enorm suggestiv makt över lärjungen,
och denna kan givetvis utnyttjas för att försätta honom i ett
annat medvetenhetstillstånd.

HujWiRt säger:1

»The Sufi Shaykhs observe the following rule. When a novice
joins them, with the purpose of renouncing the world, they subject
him to spiritual discipline for the space of three years. lf he fulfil
the requirements of this discipline, well and good; otherwise, they
declare that he cannot be admitted to the Path (Tariqat). . . . The
Sufi Shaykhs are physicians of men’s souls. When the physician is
ignorant of the patient’s malady he kills hirn by his art . . . so the
Shaykh likewise should show insight in his cail, and should give
to everyone his proper spiritual food, in order that the object of
his cail may be secured.»

Från en annan författare anför NICHOLSON2:

»The disciple must, mystically, always bear his Murshid in
mind, and become mentally absorbed in him through a constant
meditation and contemplation of him . . . The spirit of the teacher
follows him in all his efforts, and accompanies him whereever he
may be, quite as a guardian spirit. To such a degree is this
car-ried that he sees the master in all men and in all things, just as a
willing subject is under the influence of the magnetiser. This
con-dition is called ’self-annihilation’ in the Murshid or Sheykh. . . .
At this stage the Sheykh passes him over to the spiritual influence
of the long-deceased Pir or original founder of the Order, and he
sees the latter only by the spiritual aid of the Sheykh».

Här gäller det tydligen visionära tillstånd, snarast av rent
heterosuggestivt ursprung, varför vi ha ett säkert belägg för
ledarens faktiska användning av sin makt till att hypnotiskt
försätta eleven i det mystiska tillståndet.

»This is called ’self-annihilation’ in the Pir. He now becomes
so much a part of the Pir as to possess all his spiritual powers.
The third grade leads him, also through the spiritual aid of the
Sheykh, up to the Prophet himself, whom he now sees in all things.
This is called ’self-annihilation’ in the Prophet.» Ånyo suggestiv
