Eckhart, ledare och mästare för dem alla, säger:
»Der Geist /nuss übertreten Ding und Dinglichkeit, Form und
Förmlichkeit, Wesen und Wesentlichkeit, dann ivird in ihtn
geoffenbart das Werk der Seligkeit. . . . Ua in dem Werk bleibt der Geist
nimmer Creatur, denn er ist dasselbe das die Seligkeit ist und ist
Ein Wesen und Eine Substanz der Gottheit und ist die Seligkeit
seiner selbst und aller Creaturen.»1 — »Gott ist in der Seele mit
seiner Natur, mit seinem Wesen und mit seiner Gottheit und er ist
doch nicht die Seele»2 (de sista orden kursiverade av mig). — »Die
Seele . . . muss Gott allein wirken lassen ohne Hindernisse, so wirkt
er vollkommen seine Gleichheit an ihr und wirkt sie in sich selber
hinein. So versteht sie mit ihm und minnet sie mit ihm. Dies ist
das Wesen der Vollkommenheit.»3
Blosius:
»It is a great thing, an exceeding great thing, in the time of
this exile to be joined to God in the divine light by a mystica!
and denuded union. This takes place where a . . . soul . . . loses
all consideration and distinction of things, and lays aside all, even
the most excellent images, and all liquified by love, and, as it were,
reduced to nothing, it melts away into God . . . becomes one spirit
with Him, and is transformed and changed into Hirn . . . one with
God, vet not so as to be of the same substance and nature as God.
. . . In the faculty of love it feels a certain glow of quiet love . . .
like a living fountain, flowing with streams of eternal sweetness; and
thus it is introduced into sublime union with God.»4 — »When through
love the soul goes beyond all working of the intellect and all images
in the mind, and is rapt above itself, utterly leaving itself, it flows
into God ... It loses itself in the infinite solitude and darkness of
the Godhead; but so to lose itself is rather to find itself.’»5
