Dear Sir
Just now I received your favor of the 21 Jany for wh I ara greatly
oblidged. I find I forgot to give you my address, but you have hit on
a very good one, every letter or parcell you are pleased to send to
Mr Wm Ghippendale merc4 in Copenhagen, for me, will be taken great
care of & come certainly to hand. When last I wrote to you, I had
not one book of yours or my own here. otherways would not have
blundered so much & it is but within these 2 hours y41 1 reca your Genera
& Species from St Croix, the old Editions only have I seen, I am
satis-fyed of the Petrea & you may depend y4 the last description 1 sent you
of the Sauvagesia is just & natural I do believe y4 in my history of
Jam’1 to be frorn a dry specimen & not so just, for I remember y4 &
one or two more to have escaped an examination in the fresh State I
can not recolect to have yet seen anything like the Mathiola or Brossea
of Plumier, unless a species of my Halesia a small tree with a crimson
berry w*1 by its fine down realy does seem very like velvet. it grows
in S4 Groix. I have the descriptions of some curious plants y4 grow
there wh I will get ready to send you with some plants of this island
