For steel take the value of 5 two and one-half times that of
cast iron.
Example.
Calculate the horse power which with safety may be
transmitted by a cast iron gear having 60 teeth, of 2 inches
circular pitch, and 5 inches face, at the speed of 600 feet per
minute. The form of trig teeth isthe common 14^ degrees involute.
