In the equations of condition. Mr. Astrand introduced
a correction ( J o) for the assumed semidiameter of the sun.
As approximate values, lie put (f, — 70" 22’ 28."3 and
’/., — 2’’ 4m 28.’8. and the Reid correction to Greenwich
mean time at the beginning of the observations = -f- .

Assuming a probable constant error in the observed
