"TYi nærværende Afhandling allerede for tiere Aar siden
Scyramathia Carpenteri. (Norman), pg, 6.
maa den selvfølgelig bibeholdes for Arten.
Sclerocrangon salebrosus, (Owen), pg. 15.
The present Memoir having several years since left the
pen of the Author and been sent to the President of
the Editorial Committee for publication, no regard could
obviously be taken, in the body of the work, to what has
meanwhile appeared 011 the subject from other zoologists;
and hence it will not. I opine, be out of place to append
the following notes.
Scyramathia Carpenteri, (Norman), p. 6.
Professor Sidney Smith has recently described, under
the appellation Amathia Aqassizi, a fonn evidently of the
genus Scyramathia, though his species deviates from the
Northern form. What relation Stimpson’s Scyra umbonata
bears to this or the Norwegian animal, must still remain
an open question.
Eupagurus tricarinatus. (Norman), p. 11.
A closer comparison with the Mediterranean form,
E. meticulosus Roux, two specimens of which — taken off
the Naples coast — the Author has bad opportunity of
examining, leaves no doubt in his mind that Norman’s E.
tricarinatus and the latter are unquestionably identical.
Roux’s specific denomination being, however, of far anterior
date, must of course be retained for the animal in question.
Sclerocrangon salebrosus. (Owen), p. 15.
This species is found recorded, under the name the
Author first suggested, viz., Cheraphilus ferox, by Dr.
Hoek,1 as occurring throughout several tracts of the
Barents’ Sea, at depths ranging from 62 to 160 fathoms,
— along with a fine representation of an ovigerous female.
The species described by Professor Sidney Smith as
Cheraphilus Agassizi, from the East Coast of the United States,
belongs to the same genus.
