Of the naval personnel the executive officers are under the direct command of the Commander-in- Chief. The other ranks — warrant and petty officers and the men — are under the administra- tion of a separate institution, the Sjdémilitzere Korps, which also undertakes the training of the regular men, The personnel of the coastal artillery is under the charge of the Inspector-General and the Chief of the Coastal Artillery. Both the naval officers and coastal artillery officers are trained at the Naval Academy. The Coastal Artillery has its own school for the training of reserve officers, and a gunnery school. Of special schools there is one for Naval Gunnery, one for Signalling, and a Torpedo, Mine, and Engineering School. The period of training for conscripts is six months, and two contingents a year are called up (in spring and autumn). 42
