to OT Oe Under the leadership of Vidkun Quisling, a member of the Agrarian ministry (1931-1933), a new party was constituted in 1933 under the name of Nasjonal Samling. This party has for its main object the combating of communism, and to this end suggests the employment also of non-parlia- mentary means. Kristelige folkeparti (Religious People’s Party) is also a new party, formed in 1933 in one consti- tuency, Hordaland Fylke, western Norway. It is regarded as a Liberal party. Bygdefolkets krisehjelp (Agrarian Emergency Aid) is another new party; its object is, regardless of the other parties, to endeavour to relieve the economic burden of the farming population. These two parties put in their first appearance at the general election in 1933, and in all consti- tuencies sought election as one party: Nasjonal Samling. Samfundspartiet is also a new party which made its first appearance at the 1933 election. Its found- er is B. Dybwad Brochmann, who has agitated for many years for new social ethics. The position of this party to the other parties is not clear, and it is not known whether Dybwad Brochmann, who was elected at Bergen, will orientate himself to the right or the left.
