Selskap in Oslo inaugurated in 1920. The society has a permanent orchestra, wich gives concerts under the society’s permanent conductor, Olav Kielland, and also under occasional conductors. The Musikkonservatoriet (Conservatorium of Music), Oslo, founded in 1883. It has at present 50 teachers and about 600 pupils, Director: Trygve H. Lindemann (1896— _). The Musikkonservatoriet of Bergen, founded 1905. Director: Arve Arvesen. The Norsk Tonekunstnersamfund (Society of Musicians), founded in 1912, comprises composers and musicians who appear as solo performers and give their own concerts. Chairman: Torolf Voss, Oslo. The Norsk Musikerforbund, founded in 1911, is a union of orchestral and other professional musicians. Chairman: Oscar Hammerstrom, Oslo. The Norsk Komponistforening, founded in 1917. Chairman: Arne Eggen, Composer. Tono, International Music Bureau of the Nor- wegian Composers’ Association (for safeguarding the rights of Norwegian Composers), established in 1928.
