Your Excellency - In conjunction with my previous letter, dated Sept. 25, 2001, re the
ESTONIA disaster, I hereby submit motions recently handed in to the Swedish Riksdag
relating to this matter.
One of the motions was written by five MPs representing five of the parliamentary
parties - among them the Conservative Party - while a second motion stems from yet
another member of the Conservative Party, Henrik S Järrel.
It should be noted that MP JärreUs suggestions to the Swedish Riksdag have a broader
scope than the group motion, envisaging a totally new attitude towards both the causes of
the ESTONIA disaster, and the actions that ought now to be taken.
It can be safely said that the thoughts put forward by MP Järrel are consistent with a
widespread attitude among the Swedish public, implying that the disaster was never fully
investigated, and that such investigation, on an international scale, must follow.
Piease find enclosed the two above mentioned motions to the Swedish Riksdag, the
Swedish original versions. I ask You, Your Excellency, to piease arrange for these
documents to be officially translated into English.

Ers Excellens - i samband med mitt föregående brev, daterat 25 september, rörande Estonia-katastrofen,
översänder jag härmed motioner som nyligen inlämnats till den svenska riksdagen i detta ärende.
En av motionerna skrevs av fem riksdagsledamöter som representerar fem av riksdagspartierna - bland
dem det konservativa partiet, m, - medan en andra motion härstammar från ytterligare en medlem av m,
Henrik S Järrel.
Det bör understrykas att riksdagsledamoten Järrels förslag, ställda till den svenska riksdagen, har större
vidd än gmppmotionen, i det att den förutsätter en helt ny attityd såväl till Estonia-olyckans orsaker som till
de åtgärder som nu bör vidtas.
Det kan med säkerhet sägas att de tankar som framförs av riksdagsledamoten Järrel stämmer överens med
en vida spridd inställning hos den svenska allmänheten med innebörd att katastrofen aldrig blev grundligt
utredd samt att en dylik utredning, på ett internationellt plan, nu måste följa.
Jag bifogar de båda ovannämnda riksdagsmotionerna i den svenska originalversionen. Jag anhåller, Ers
Excellens, att Ni måtte föranstalta om en officiell engelsk översättning.
