An exterior view of the works.

The armour is also made of nickel-chromium steel and, as a rule, is cast in its actual
shape, then hardened in oil and tempered. The largest gun-shields which have so far
been made have been 200 mm (8 inch.) thick and weighed about 20 tons, when ready.

A branch which Bofors has taken up within the last ten years with great success
is the making of air-tubes for torpedoes. The Works have received orders for a number of these from the Swedish as well as from foreign navies.

To serve a peaceful purpose, although by no means an unbloody one, modern
whale-guns with recoiling brake are also manufactured at Bofors.

OTHER MANUFACTURES OF THE COMPANY.

Special mention may be made of the following:

Machine-shop products of all kinds, especially such as require heavy machinery
in the manufacturing.

Motors, motor-ploughs, presses, ore crushing-mills, rolling mills and pneumatic
hammers are also manufactured.
