Hot Iron Rolling Mills.
crankshafts, piston rods and other parts for motors and steam engines, &c. Smaller
forgings of heat treated nickel steel and chromium nickel steel, for the automobile- and
aeroplane industries are also manufactured in considerable quantities.
COLD ROLLED PRODUCTS.
A considerable proportion of the Company’s manufactures consists of cold rolled or
cold drawn products.
Cold rolled band steel, up to 400 millimetres broad, is chiefly employed in such
industries where a tough pressing material is needed, and for the manufacture of
steel pens, driving springs, razor blades, saws, especially band saws both for timber
and metal, and for rulers and tape measures, etc.
The Sandviken Steel conveyor bands are worthy of special attention. They can be
used with advantage instead of the more expensive rubber belts, for the transport of
various kinds of goods, such as charcoal, cement, sand, ores, &c. During the last few
