AKTIEBOLAGET BÅNGBRO RÖR VERK
and wire mills, in
addition to the necessary
furnaces for the heating
and welding of ingots
and billets. There are
also the necessary
auxiliary machines, such
as shears, hot saws,
straightening machines;
stretcher, &c.
THE COLD MILLS
WORKS.
Since 1912, there has
been manufactured at
Bångbro Works cold
rolled steel for
various purposes. Hitherto the production has been specialized on soft annealed
hoop-iron for packing purposes, but there is at present under construction a large building
where the principal production will consist of high-quality steel for almost every known
purpose. Both annealed, hardened and polished material will then be supplied.
PRESS- AND HAMMER SHOP.
This department has 2 hydraulic presses, 4 pneumatic hammers, 1 drop
hammer and a number of smaller hammers; annealing- and hardening furnaces, forges,
&c. Here there is manufactured hammered steel, tool steel, drill steel, and finished
goods like press-forged shapes, &c.
FOUNDRY, MACHINE SHOP, CARPENTER’S SHOP.
These shops form a department well equipped with various machines, furnaces
and apparatus, chiefly carried on to supply the Company’s own needs.
THE THOMAS PHOSPHATE MILL
contains two ball mills in which the thomas slag is ground to a fine powder, in order
that the phosphorus it contains - amounting, on an average, to about 15% - may
be more easily soluble when applied as a fertilizer.
