recovered from all parts of the alimentary canal and from the
faeces.

RABBIT vin, weight, 310 grams, fed on Aspergillus lerreus. April 9,
four tubes. April 17, five tubes. April 20, four tubes. April 24,
eight tubes. April 26, Exitus.

When examined the stomach was found to be less filled with
food than had been the casein RABBITS v, VI, and vu. The caecum,
however, was much distended, and the small intestine empty. The
fungus was recovered from all along the intestine.

RABBIT IX, weight, 270 grams, fed on Aspergillus fumigatus. Only
the spores of the fungus were used. April 21, spores from four
tubes given. April 23, Exitus.

Postmortem examination showed the usual characteristics of a
filled stomach, much distended caecum, and practically empty small
intestine. The lungs and kidneys were perfectly healthy, and no
fungous growth in the intestine could be detected. The fungus
was recovered in platings from the stomach, small and large intestine,
and from the faeces.

RABBIT x, weight, 280 grams, fed on Aspergillus niger. April 21,
four tubes. April 24, eight tubes. April 26, Exitus.

RABBIT XI, weight, 342 grams, fed on Aspergillus nidulans. April
28, eight tubes. April 30, eight tubes. May 2, Exitus.

RABBIT xi weight, 378 grams, fed on Aspergillus flavus. April 24,
four tubes. April 26, eight tubes. April 28, Exitus.

RABBIT xım, weight, 398 grams, fed on Oidium lactis. April 21,
four tubes. April 23, four tubes. April 24, ten tubes. April 28,
eight tubes. No harmful effects were noticed. When after two
weeks the animal was killed and examined, the digestive apparatus
had a perfectly normal appearance.

The rather unexpected results of the feeding of intestinal moulds
to rabbits demonstrate beyond doubt the virulent toxic action of
the mycelium and spores of the following species: Aspergillus
fumigatus, A. flavus, A. nidulans, A. niger, A. umbrinus, A. terreus,
Penicillium avellaneum, and P. divaricatum. On the other hand,
Oidium lactis seems to be without any toxic effects. A very different
degree of toxicity is further noticeable among the toxic species.
