A critical species; the sterile leaves resemble very much H. repens
yar. minor Nees, but the contracted fertile ones are very different,

more resembling those of H. botrychioides Brack. in a reduced
scale. H. crassifrons v. A. v. R. from New Guinea is a similar
small species, but it is according to a sketch kindly sent me by
Capt. VAN ALDERWERELT VAN ROSENBURGH not identical with our species.
