H. Kaudernii var. (?) variabilis n. var. (an sp. propr.?) (Fig. 4.) |
To H. Kaudernii I provisionally refer another smaller specimen
from about the same locality (no. 55): most sterile leaves are not
materially different from those of typical H. Kaudernii but larger,
on stalks 1—3 cm, with lamina 2—4 em long and broad and
somewhat more incised, but some other sterile leaves are equal to the
fertile ones in size, with stalks upto 8 em long, the lamina more
divided with cuneate primary and secondary segments: fertile la-
mina much contracted, sori smaller than in H. Kaudernii with a
long horn beyond (compare figures).
This form comes very near to the Polynesian H. botrychioides
Brack., which species Curisr has recorded from Celebes but appa-
rently by mistaking the true H. botrgchioides. This species is
scarcely well understood, at least the figure given by Baker (Hook.
Ic. plant. t. 1621) seems rather different from that of BRACKENRIDGE
(U. S. Expl. Exp. 16. t 32 f. 2), still both represent forms con-
siderably larger than the form here described and recede besides |
in smaller details.
Lomagramma sinuata n. sp. (Fig. 5.)
Rhizomate ad caudices arborum late repente, lignoso, longissimo,
1.5—2 cm crasso, inferne radicibus brevibus dense radicante, su-
perne 5 sulcis, rimis acutis separatis, profunde sulcato, squamis
minutis anguste lanceolatis adpressis atrofuscis sparse obtecto, deni-
que denudato. Foliis difformibus ex schedula pendentibus, valde
remolis. Stipitibus foliorum sterilium cum rhizomate continuis ad
25 cm longis, basi 6 mm crassis, cinnamomeis, glaberrimis, superne
angusle profundeque sulcatis. Lamina sterilis ovato-lanceolata,
verisimiliter 1 m vel ultra longa herbacea, siccitate brunnea, gla-
berrima; rachi non alata. Pinnis 10—15-jugis, usque ad 6 em
inter se remolis alternis, erecto-patentibus (nec falcatis), petiolis
1 cm longis stipitatis ad rachin articulatis, facile deciduis, e basi |
postice cuneata antice rotundato-truncata in petiolum decurrente
oblongis, breviter acuminatis, 20 cm longis 4 cm latis, sinuato-
repandis, margine ipso integerrimis, pinna terminale conformi. Venis
distinctis reticulatis inferne elevatis, areolas 4—5 inter costam et
marginem formantibus, areolis elongatis plerumque 5-angulatis, |
costalibus valde inaequalibus. — Foliis fertilibus minori-
bus, lamina ad 55 cm longa, pinnis configuratione sterilibus simi-
