ribus aculis decurrentibus, medialibus alternis basi late adnata
confluentibus, maximis 3 mm longis basi 2 mm latis, acute et profunde
dentatis, dentibus 2—4 pro segmento. Vena mediana crassa utrin-
que elevata; venis lateralibus basalibus plerumque furcatis, superio-
ribus indivisis, superne praesertim in dentibus elevatis, inferne occul-
tis vel partim elevatis; marginibus paulo revolutis. Soris 1—3 pro
segmento, superficialibus, globosis, majusculis, paraphysibus nullis.
Bolaang-Mongondou, rain-forest above Modajag near Danau-lake
(no. 37).
This new species resembles evidently closely P. Sibarongae Christ
from Mont Sibaronga, Celebes, which, according to the description,
is considerably larger (leaf 1.5 em broad) glaucescent beneath, and
the author does not mention the elevated veins so pronounced in
our species. On the upperside the midrib and most lateral veins
are elevated, on the underside the midrib is much raised, especially to-
wards the central tooth, while the lateral veins are sometimes quite
obscure, but often the outer part of the is equally raised and blackish.
The large teeth are, when magnified, seen to be rounded at the tip.
Polypodium subgeminatum Christ var. (Fig. 7.)
Central-C. Lindoe, 1000 m (no. 92).
With approximate certainty I refer this specimen to P. subgemi-
natum Christ, hitherto only known from New Guinea. The very
long trailing and branched rhizome is ligneous, glaucescent, longi-
tudinally wrinkled in the dry state, naked, the growing apices
excepted. Leaves more or less dimorph, the sterile ones being ge-
nerally much broader than the fertile ones 15—20 cm long, 4 cm
broad, coriaceous, glabrous but with black and white dots above,
pale green, ovate-lanceolate, entire fertile fronds lanceolate, 10 cm
long 1.5 em broad, with one row of immersed sori midway between
margin and midrib. Veins indistinct, densely anastomosing with
many free included veinlets with clavate apices, to each of which
corresponds a small black point on the upperside of the leaf; from |
these black spots CaCO, is secerned.
Marattia sp. cf. M. alata v. A. v. R. Hdb. 766. — Central-C:
Lindoe, 1300 m (no. 87).
Only a part of a sterile leaf present; it belongs evidently to M.
alata Christ, Fil. Saras. II. 217 but is scarcely the same as the
American M. alata Sm. It may be a young state of M. sambucina Bl.
