Stockholm, a form (photo 1571 ön this page) which had a number
of distincl rellex pilei up to 2 cm. broad in radial direction. Hesides
these pileate specimens there grew ön the same stuh also partly or
totally resupinate specimens. The surface of the reflex part
beco-mes lastly glabrous. — I should add tliat the spores of this
collec-tion are a lillie smaller than staled in the description, viz. 3—4 Va
x 1 Va—2 /.i and generali}’ oblique and 1 guttäte.1)

Neither this collection nor that from Lappland show any hint of
a ptychogastric state. And I am still not fully satislied that the

fence-rails in Bromma near Stockholm) containing mostly resupinate specimens which
are so exactly like Pol. sericeomollis that I would not have hesitated to swear to
the iilent.it y. But together with these resupinate specimens there occur in one of
the collections also reflex ones, some of which are purely white and like those of
photo 1571, white others are a little greyish above and subzonate and
radiallysub-rngose just as in specimens which I have hitherto referred to Quelets Pol.
flori-formis. In all these specimens (both resupinate and reflex the spores are
subcylin-dric or suballantoid 4’,’2 —6 (—7) X l1 —2) u. lf all these recent collections and all
these specimens really belongto Pol. sericeo-mollis, this species seems to be very variable.
