chlamydosporic specimens, mentioned in Arkiv för Botanik, Band
11: 3, pag. 22, really belong here.
Polyporus unitus.
What this name respects seems mystic. A specimen in Persoons
herbarium, collected ön the Vosges Mountains, to which place
Persoon refers, is quite identical with his Pol. medulla panis and
does not agree with his description.
The specimens collected by Sommerfelt, to which Fries refers
in El. p. 116, I have not seen. There exists, howe ver, in Fries’
herbarium a specimen from Blytt, and this belongs probably to
Rostkovius’ Pol. aiirantiacus, while a specimen from Weinmann
appears to be Karsten’s Pol. ferrugineo-fuscus.
Polyporus Weinmanni.
This plant shall occur according to Fries »in Suecia media haud
raro». What species he means is, however, a riddle to me. There is no
specimen of it in his herbarium except one from Karsten, and
this looks like Pol. fragilis. The description seems also to agree
with Pol. fragilis except that the pileus can not properly be said
to be »tenax».
Bresadola, who in Fungi Pol. p. 73 identifies these two species,
seems now inclined to refer my Pol. lapponicus to Pol. Weinmanni.
This should mean that Pol. lapponicus be identical with Pol.
fragilis, an opinion which is by no means acceptable as the two are
in fact far distant from each other. And even if we drop the
opinion that Pol. Weinmanni be identical with Pol. fragilis, I can not
accept Pol. lapponicus as a true representative of Pol. Weinmanni,
as it does not agree with the description, the pores being not
»labyrinthic» and not »tactu rufo-fusci», the margin not »thin» etc.
Polyporus viridans.
A rich collection of Pol. viridans (Pol. inconstans) from
Hemming-skär in Mälaren suggests the opinion that my Pol. Nuoljae be perhaps
only a variety of that species, though it has another color.
