Romsdalen.
dalen i Søndmøre med Tinnen, Stolene og en Mængde
stolte Tinder. Tilhøire, paa sydvestre Side af Fjorden,
har man det smilende Vestnæs med de yndige
Sønd-mørefjelde — Brustinderne, Lauparen m. fl. — og
tilvenstre, som Modsætning, de mørkere med Furuskov
beklædte Fjelde mellem Fannefjorden og Langfjorden
Skaala m. v., over hvilken sidste Fjord man ser
Vist-dalsfjeldene og noget tilhøire Kirketaget, som mod denne
Side frembyder en bråt Styrtning med en Række Furer,
næsten altid fyldte med Sne. — Kommer man langs
Fannestranden østfra, har man endnu Fordelen af lidt
efter lidt at blive fortrolig med Situationen uden paa
en Gang saa at sige at overvældes af dens Storhed;
her finder man ogsaa Hvile for Øiet ved at passere
gjennem en uafbrudt Række af Løvskov og plantede
Alléer.
6J. Parti af Eikesdalen. Eikesdalen har en
Mængde storartede Naturskjønheder at opvise, og
Eikes-dalsvandet er visselig en af Norges mærkeligste Søer;
liggende nej>pe 200 Fod over Havet indesluttes det af
mægtige og bratte Fjelde med underlige Former. Lige
ved Vandet ligger Overaas-Gaardene, hvor man kan
erholde Logi.
Mellem Christiania og Throndhjem over Dovre.
Ved Domaas (2,100 Fod o. H.) begynder
Fjeldovergangen over Dovre (i en lav Fordybning af Fjeldmarken,
Romsdalen. 47
is, that many unsuccessful attempts have been made
to reach the summit. But, half a century ago, two
venturesome lads are said to have made the ascent,
and to have descended the fjeld unharmed, yet not,
as the story goes, without having passed two days and
nights on the summit, ere they ventui’ed on the perilous
descent.
65. Yeblungnæs, a market place with 350
inhabitants, is situated at the foot of the lofty Sætnæsfjeld
(3,800 feet high), from the summit of which — the
ascent may be easily accomplished in 3 hours — you
have a splendid view of the Alpine regions of Romsdal
and Söndmöre.
View of Molde. „Kjöbstaden" Molde has 1,700
inhabitants, a Grammar School and a Hospital for
leprous patients, — the Beknæs Hospital. Molde is of
little importance as a commercial town, but, with regard
to situation, is a matchless spot. Both from the town
itself, and the whole of the northern shore of the
Fannefjorden,— Fannestranden, one of the districts in which
vegetation in Norway is most luxuriant, you have a
prospect at once so soft and grandly beautiful, as to
be unique, we opine, in the whole country. The
foreground consists of a number of low and well-wooded
islets, and behind them, at a distance of 3/., mile, the
larger island of Sækken, also wooded, with Veö, between
which two rows of islands the fjord may be seen.
Behind these islands, Oksen, and the rounded summits at
Alfarnæsset rise to an altitude of 2,000 feet above the
sea; above the latter, in the extreme background, tower
the majestic Romsdalsfjelde, and the mountains between
