P. trigona is eharacterized by the unarmed carpal process
of the second pair of pereiopoda, by the very short dactyli of
the third and fourth pairs and by the scarcely serrated rami
of the uropoda.
Length 25—30 mm.

This genus differs from Hyperia by the narrow,
gauge-shaped carpal process of the second pair of pereiopoda; the
carpus of the first pair being broad, but not produced. From
Parathemisto it differs by the strong development of the fifth
pair; this latter characteristic however is not of any higher
value, as there are transitions between the two genera.

It is characterized by the carpal process of the second pair
of pereiopoda being provided with long hairs, without terminal
spine, by the exterior and interior rami of the uropoda being
equal in length, and by the rainute, triangular telson.
Length 26 mm.
