forge and a mechanical workshop. Storfors carries on an exceedingly highly devoloped
manufacture of ¡hot finished and cold drawn seamless tubes.
At Bkatteors there is and old type of blast furnace which is sometimes
employed, when the Company is in need of an extra supply of pig iron.
ELECTRO CHEMICAL INDUSTRY.
In addition to the above-mentioned electro-chemical factory at Skoghall for the
production of 4,500 tons of chloride of lime and 1,500 tons of caustic soda, the Company
carries on a considerable chemical industry at Stjernsfors, where an establishment for
the manufacture of retort charcoal was built, after the sulphate works formerly existing
at the place had been closed. From the by products obtained from the manufacture
of the charcoal there is produced: Tar, turpentine, wood spirit, a number af special
oils, acetate of lime, etc. In order further to develop the chemical industry at the
place, there^has been built at Skoghall a special scientific chemical laboratory, in charge
of a scientifically trained chemist.

SHIPPING BUSINESS.
After the completion of the Company’s works at Skoghall, it proved necessary
for the Company to control its own tonnage for the export of its products, and it has
consequently purchased 6 steamers of, together, 3,700 tons dead weight, and 6 motor
vessels of, togetether, 1,800 tons dead weight. The steamers are intended for the carriage
of the Company’s products direct to foreign ports, and the motor vessels carry to
Gothenburg the goods that are to be there transfered to export steamers.
THE COMPANY’S PRODUCTIONS.
The following survey of the Company’s production may be of interest:

24,000 stands, sawn wood goods (75 % of which are Red and Yellow, and about
25 % White) divided in quality approximately as follows:
