Minutes of the Proceedings
at. the third annual meeting of the Society, held in
the rooms of the Chicago Historical Society, March
25, 1908.
The meeting was, in the absence of the acting
president, called to order by the secretary.
Mr. E. W. Olson was elected chairman pro tem.
The minutes of the previous meeting were
approved as printed in the Yearbook.
Mr. Franklin 1L Head, president of the Chicago
Historical Society, greeted the Society in behalf of
that body, as a co-worker in the field of historical
research.
Mr. J. E. ITillberg read Mr. Wallen ins’ paper:
“Den svensk-amerikanska litteraturen och dess
betydelse för den svensk-amerikanska världen.”
The secretary read his report, as follows:
To the Members of the Swedish-American
Histrical Society: —
The secretary’s report for the i>ast year includes the
activities of the two committees on Publications and on
Library, While there are 110 great achievements to
narrate* the report is nevertheless one of progres. The first
Year-Book of the Society, covering the first three years
of its existence* has been issued and sent to the members.
Our library has been removed from storage to the new,
fireproof building of the Swedish Theological Seminary in
Evanston, where a room lias been set aside for its use and
where the library before long will be available to those who
might wish to use it; and the services of Prof, J. E.
PI1M-berg o[ the Seminary have been secured as librarian. Many
valuable gifts have been received, more have been promised,
