The secretary presented the treasurer’s report,
which w-as referred to the auditing committee.
Mr. E. W. Olson reported on his visit to Madison,
Wisconsin, in December, as representative of the
Society to the American Historical Association.
Mr. E. Mannhardt delivered an address on the
German-American Historical Society of Illinois.
The chairman’s request for a vote of thanks to
Mr. Head and Mr. Mannhardt was responded to by
rising.
The rules of the Society were suspended so as to
enable a vote to be taken on the change of name as
suggested in the secretary’s report.
It was then voted that the name of the Society
be changed to The Swedish Historical Society of
America.
The following amendments presented by the
Executive Committee ivere adopted:
To §1: Cancel the last paragraph.
To §6: Add after the first sentence: “The Council
shall have authority to fill all vacancies among its
members that occur between annual meetings.”
To §8: Cancel the words “from among its own
members. ’ ’
To §9: Add as first sentence: “The annual
meeting of the Society shall be held at such time and
place as the Council may determine;” cancel in the
present first sentence the words “of the Society.”
To §11: Change the word “sixty” to “thirty.”
The nomination committee, Messrs. A. G. S.
Josephson, C. A. Evald and C. F. Erikson, presented
ihe following report: Ihat Dr. Josua Lindahl, Dr.
