Anton J. Carlson and Mr. Joseph G. Sheldon, all of
Chicago, Mr. G. N. Swan, of Sioux City, Iowa, and
Mr. David Nyvall, of McPherson, Kansas, be elected
members of the council for three vears; and that the

temporary election by the council of Mr. J. E.
Hill-berg to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of
Mr. O. G. Lagergren, be confirmed and Mr. Hillberg
elected member of the council for two years,

The report was adopted and the above mentioned
gentlemen elected members of the council.

The secretary presented from the council the
following names for election as honorary members:

Dr. C. K. S, Sprinchorn of Malmö, Sweden, author
of the first comprehensive study of the history of
New Sweden; and Mr, Gregory B. Keen, of
Philadelphia, the author of the chapter on New Sweden
in Justin Winger’s Narrative and Critical History of
America.

These two gentlemen were unanimously elected
honorary members of the Society, by a rising vote.

The suggestion of the council that the Society take
the initiative to a conference of teachers in
Swedish-American schools was, after a short discussion, laid
on the table until the next annual meeting, it being
thought that the matter was too new, and perhaps
not quite germane to the purposes of the Society.

The secretary read a letter from Mr. G. N. Swan,
containing some recommendations for the collection
of literary material and bibliographical notes. The
letter vras referred to the council for action.

Mr. C. A. Ekström or, Swedish vice-consul in St.
Louis, who had come to Chicago expressly for the
