The president made a suggestion that Prof. Oscar
Montelius be invited to come to Chicago to deliver
one or two lectures under the auspices of the Society,
and on motion this matter was referred to the
executive committee with full power to act.
Minutes of a meeting of the executive committee
of The Swedish Historical Society of America held
at Room 506 Reaper Block, Chicago, Oct. 3, 1908,
at 12 :30 p. m.
Present, A. Gf. S. Josephson, J. E. Hillberg and
J. G. Sheldon.
The secretary reported that I ’rofessor Montelius
had promised to deliver two lectures under the
auspices of and for the benfit of the Society, one on
the 29th of October and one on the 31st, both of the
lectures to be illustrated and in Swedish, and that
for these lectures the Association Hall had been
rented for the first evening at an expense of $50.00
for the hall, $2.50 for tickets, $4,00 for ushers, and
$5.00 for use of lamp and screen, total $61.50 and
that Immanuel Church, corner Sedgwick and Hobbic
streets, would be at the service of the Society for
the second lecture, on the condition that 33% of the
net receipts were turned over to the home mission
fund.
It was decided to charge 50 cents for the tickets
for the second lecture, and 50c, 75c and $1.00 for
the tickets for the first.
It was further decided that a banquet,
“Herr-sexa,” be arranged Friday evening, Oct. 30th, in
honor of Prof. Montelius and that the price of tickets
