Minutes of the meeting of the Council of The
Swedish Historical. Society of America held at John
Crerar Library, 88 Wabash avenue, Chicago, June IS,
1908.
Meeting was called to order by the president, Dr.
Lindahl, and the minutes of the last meeting were
read and approved.
The secretary reported that an application had
been made to the Secretary of State for a charter and
that one had been issued to the Society under the
name, The Swedish Historical Society of America, on
the 10th day of April, 1908, which charter was read
and adopted as the charter of the Society and the
secretary was instructed to be the custodian of the
same.
The secretary also reported that he had ordered a
corporate seal for the society and the same was
accepted and adopted as the seal of the Society and
for identification the secretary was directed to make
an impression thereof on the margin of ihese minutes.
0?i motion the secretary was authorized to have
5,000 circulars printed in Swedish and English, and
the secretary was requested to prepare and send to
Swedish churches, societies, clubs, and other
organizations a circular letter asking for information as to
the history of the respective organizations.
Rev. Julius Lincoln of Jamestown, N, Y., was
appointed a member of the Council to succeed C. G.
Schultz resigned and Mr. N. A. Nelson of Chicago
was appointed a member of the finance committee in
place of A. P. Fors, who was no longer a member of
the Society, and the secretary was instructed to
notify these gentlemen of said appointments.
