Secretary’s Report at Annual Meeting, Oct. 30,1911.
The activities and accomplishments of the Swedish
Historical Society during the past year may be briefly
stated in the following summary.
Membership.—New members added, 64: deceased,
3; resigned, 2; members removed, whose addresses
are unknown, 5; lapsed for arrears from and
including the year 1909, 26; total loss, 36; net gain, 29;
total present membership 216.
Donations to the Library.-—Substantial accessions
to the library have been received during the year.
On books, pamphlets, and newspapers, currently
re-ceived or sent directly to the library, it is for the
librarian or the library committee to report.
Donations solicited by, and passing through the hands
of the secretary, were as follows:
From the private library of the late Dr. John A.
Enander, about 200 volumes, bound and unbound,
together with many newspaper files and portraits,
donated by Mrs. Enander and the family.
From Mr. Alfred Söderström, Warroad, Minn., 120
volumes, and upwards of 1,000 copies of newspapers,
mostly rare or difficult to secure at this time.
From Mr. P. A. Lindberg, Chicago, files of the
magazines Valkyrian, complete in 13 volumes, and
Forskaren, 5 volumes, together with his own
publications and other volumes, about 25 in all.
From Mr. Axel Lindegard, Hallock, Minn., 20
