Annual Meeting, November 5, 1915,
President Lindvall read a splendid address, seeting forth
to the society its aims and ambitions, particularly
dwelling upon co-operation and future advancement.
A program consisting of vocal and piano music was
rendered, after which Dr. Andreen eloquently spoke upon his
selected topic “Ten and Ten times Ten,”
The Secretary’s report.
Having served as secretary only during the last year,
my report will naturally be brief. The most important
question for discussion at our council meetings has been
our library and its housing, Through the kindness and
influence of Mr. Wallenins the Swedish Theological
Seminary at Evanston has given us the use of a room and
storing facilities, free of charge, for a period of six or
seven years, and our six thousand volumes of books,
papers, pamphlets and manuscripts are there taken care
of under the guidance of our librarian. Ways and means
for a more centralized locality, convenient for students and
other interested persons, have been discussed. As yet we
have not reached definite solution, principally owTing to
our lack of financial resources,
A committee has been appointed with Dr. Wahlström as
chairman to still further the work for the introduction of
the Swedish language in the High Schools of Chicago.
As to membership only a few names have been added to
oiii’ list during the past year.
The Council has had four regular meetings.

Mr. Josephson gave an oral report concerning the
library after which he read the following resolution:
“Whereas it has come to the notice of the Swedish
Historical Society of America that instruction in
Scandinavian languages and literatures has been discontinued in
the University of Chicago, and
