town of Nefsta. He is coming back to America the first
part of April. Yon can get information about the journey
from him. I will close with a thousand greetings to you
all.
We remain always yours,
Oliver Stephenson.
Dear parents, brothers, and sisters: —
I will add a few lines. We are happy that you are
coming to visit us, and I hope you will have a safe voyage
and that God will be your strength and comfort. The
journey is not long in the springtime, but during the
summer the boats are crowded and there is more sickness.
From what we hear, it isn’t pleasant in Sweden. If you
have a safe voyage, I do not think you will regret coming
to America. Now that conditions in Sweden are so
unfortunate, I wish Sven and Christine would come. They
will do well by their children to make the change. I do
not want to insist, however, because we hear that they
are getting along well. Wages are better here. In fact
working for others here is preferable to owning an estate
in Sweden. Sven told me about his crop last fall. We
send greetings, as do the children to their cousins. Our
little Clara runs about. She walked when she was ten
months old. She is bright and good.
Mary Stephenson.
