In my opinion the Anchor is the best line for yon to
take—it certainly is as good as any. You will save
money by purchasing through tickets to Mount Pleasant,
Iowa. If you can arrange to come as soon as possible, I
will make no arrangements for a hired man. My
brother-in-law can work for me. This arrangement will be
satisfactory to all concerned. Then, too, Johanna will have
the opportunity of making herself familiar with the
methods of housekeeping in this country.
I bid you a hearty welcome to this free country.
Immediately on your arrival at New York notify me of the
time of your arrival at Mount Pleasant, in order that I
may meet you. I will write no more....... Give my
regards to my brother-in-law Carl at Wärhult. I would
like to hear from him. I hope we may soon see one
another. Cordial greetings to all.
Oliver Stephenson.
I will add a few lines for my dear parents and brothers
and sisters. Thanks for the good news that we shall soon
see you. I believe God has directed this, because it has
always been next to my heart. I have thought and
dreamed of this constantly, and now my dreams are to be
realized. In our last letter I stated what I thought you
should bring with you from Sweden...... I am glad
Oliver has not made arrangements for a hired man.......
Mary Helena Stephenson.
