“Från Upsala till Rock Island”, Archbishop Söderblom
has given further -expression to the admiration which
he feels for the work of the Swedish Americans and the
strong idealistic currents which he found evident in
American life in general.
THE ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Swedish Historical Society
was held in the assembly room of the Minnesota
Historical Library December 5, 1923, at 8 p. m.
The president and the treasurer of the Society read
their annual reports which were approved.
Members of the Council were elected, as follows:
Erik Dahlhielm, Minneapolis, J. A. Jackson, St. Paul,
George M. Stephenson, Minneapolis, Mrs. Namy Mattson
Jaeger, Minneapolis, and Victor E. Lawson, Willmar,
Minn., all for a term of three years.
Before the business session members and visitors
listened to papers, read by Pastor J. J. Daniels of
Lindsborg, Kans., on the subject “The Commission of
the Swedish People in America” and by the president,
Professor A. A. Stomberg, on the subject “Early Efforts
at Scandinavian Church Union in America.”
