Jurist and civil servant, a son of politician Arvi Ahmavaara and grandson of Pekka Ahmavaara. The family name was Aulin until 1906.
In the 1950s, he translated novels into Finnish, as well as some volumes of Carl Grimberg, Kansojen historia (14 vol. 1928-1959). Sometimes together with his wife Anna-Liisa Ahmavaara (Rekola).
