Ritus Septentrionalium.                                         VETVS apud Septentrionales Principes ritus semper observatus
                                        fuerant, qui & moderno tempore ardentissimis exercitiis,
                                        & continuis studiis observatur, vt in publicis conventibus
                                        Regum, & Principum, aut nobilium, nuptialibus
                                        festis, aut equitibus auratis procreandis, aut bellicis
                                        triumphis confectis vel conficiendis, aut natalibus Principum
                                        diebus celebrandis, aut certa alia suadente ratione, vel
Hastiludia quando fiunt et quomodo.                                         voluptate, frequentius fieri soleant diversi generis hastiludia,
                                        ac torneamenta: quandoque integris armis præliaribus, &
Galea sola. contis acutis, vel causa læsi honoris reintegrandi, aut amplificandi: quandoque sola:
galea in capite, & thorace in pectore tectis, ob placidum clarissimarum, ac illustrium
virginum, & matronarum favorem habitum, aut habendum: quandoque nudo brachio
dextræ, vel sinistræ manus, sericeis fimbriis circumquaque pendentibus, & expansis:
idque ob contentionem nobilium procorum dirimendam. His & similibus causis
Lex militaris. multipliciter digladiantur, prout voluptate trahuntur, lege militari severissima strenue
conservata, ne quis præter decorem & honestatem, alteri postea sive inermi, sive armato
congrediatur, aut cadens membris ruptis insultet, aut fracta cervice necis actionem
Arma integra victori cedunt. transferat ad hæredes. Solent etiam equos & arma, auri & argenti
non contemnendam summam mediocris nobilitatis aulici in
præmium victoris reponere, præsertim quando ex
provocatione singulare certamen subeundum
erit.
