Preface to the electronic edition
Fridtjof Nansen's Rusland og
Freden was published in Norwegian in 1923 and this anonymous
German translation in the same year, just like
an English translation. Nansen was awarded
the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922 for his efforts with refugees following
The Great War. The book has been digitized in October 2009 by
Nasjonalbiblioteket, Norway, from where the scanned images and the OCR
text (which is of excellent quality, considering the blackletter
typography) were copied to Project Runeberg in May 2019.
During proofreading, ligatures ß (Rußland) and ꜩ (jeꜩt) have been
rewritten as ss (Russland) and tz (jetzt).
This volume was scanned by the Norwegian National Library,
from where the scanned images were copied to Project Runeberg.
We very much appreciate that they have made this possible
