the Arkansas last battle. Here on the 11th of Jan. he was
wounded near the collar-hone, the shot passing down his
left lung, and lodging. He came to Lawson Hospital in
this city on the 28th. of Jan. He is doing very well
indeed ... He wishes very much that he could be at home
occupying his place in the church... He would like to have
you write to him very much... Address him at Lawson
Hospital, Ward 3, Bed 39, St. Louis, Mo–––––

...And at present we are enjoying good health pretty
generally and faring about as well as life in a military
camp allows. And we are only wishing that the War
might soon come to an end. But only a good end, a
complete victory, the extermination of slavery, and the
subjection of the pride of the big Southern Aristocracy.
