Fayette Co., B. Fink 1896 (S.), s. n. R. sophodes v. exUjiia, 011 old
boards, resembles R. pyrina hut bas verv thin-walled spores and thallus
KOH+ yellow. Uncertain.

5. R. subplumbea H. Magn. n. sp.

Thallus orbicularis, viridescenti-plumbeus, areolatus, areolis
undu-lato-angulatis, planis, opaquis, KOH—. Apothecia cenlroversus
nume-rosa, adpressa, prominentià, disco atrofusco, piano, margine thallino
leviter prominente cincto. Cortex et excipulum deficientia. Thecium
subaltum, superne fuseo-fulvum, paraphysibus superne ramosis. Sporae
minutae, oblongae, pariete tenui uniformi. septo tenni.

Specimens seen 7—8 mm diam., extenuated towards the
circum-ference, with a shade of a darker hypothallus; areolae 0.2—0.4 mm
wide, at centre separated by wide cracks. Apothecia 0.3 0.5 mm wide,
as young möre reddish brown.

Thallus hyphous, filled with gonidia, 8 12 a large, wilhout cortex.
— Apothecia widely attached, about 0.3 mm Ihick, convex, wilhout
cortex and exciple, pale part 150 -200 u tleep, sometimes conical.
IIvpo-thecium 50—70 ij. thick, faintly yellowish, hyphae perpendicular in
upper part, lower part cellulär, cells 1.5—2 [/.. Thecium 85(100) ij. Iiigh,
hyaline, 1+ dark blue like hypothecium to the gonidia; upper 17 \j.
pale- or brown-fulvous, apices of paraphyses contiguous, indistinct, in
KOII discrete, subcapitate, 3.5—5 a, yellowish brown, often furcate
towards apices. Spores 8, often shrunk, brown, 12–14X5—6 (/., very
thin-walled, with plane, |hin septum, there slightly constricted.

One pycnidium found immersed in the thallus, about 65 ijl in diam.
with pale wäl!. Conidia bacilliform, 6—7X0.5 [j., straight.

sophodes. Ön another piece of bark R. Finkii.

R. subplumbea, at the first glance resembling R. Finkii and united
with it ön Ihe same sheet, is distinctly separated by the somewhat
plumbeous, areolate, orbicular thallus, by larger apothecia, higher
Ihe-cium, pale hypothecium, and of|en branched paraphyses. The spore
type and size is similar in both.

6. R. Finkii H. Magn. n. sp.

Thallus effusus, viridi-fuscus, tenuis, subfurfuracéo-verruculosus.
Apothecia dispersa, minuta, prominentià, alra, plana, baud corticata,
margine thallino tenui, Ihallo concolore cincto. Thecium tenue, apicibus
