Thallus forming a thin, hardlv visible, smootli film ön the bark.
Apothecia prorumpent with thick, whitish margin, theii dilated, 0.4—
0.5 111111 across wilh very thin, hardlv prominent margin.
Apothecia 0.25—0.3 mm thick, pale part 120(150) [j. deep. Edge
50—70 [j. thick without cortex, gonidial stratum |here concealed by
grämdes, Pd + orange, producing short cryslals, simple or in stellate
bundles. Exciple indistinct or to 17 [j. all round, ± concealed by
grämdes, and almost brownish red at edge. Hypothecium 10(15) u, greyish
hyaline. Thecium 100 [j. high, hyaline, 1+ dark blue to the gonidia;
upper 17 [j. bright brownish fulvous, granular, Pd—. Paraphyses in
mucli gelatine, also in KOH, apices 2(3) u., indistinct, pale, in KOH
with intricately branched and very |hin apices with lasting granules,
thus forming a real epitliecium (distinct in KOH +H2S04). Spores
(5 to 8, dark greenish brown, (30)35X13—17 [j., walt slightly irregularly
thickened, laterally 2—2.5 ij., at apices 3—4 [j, septum 3—4 [x wilh
distinct central lamella.

This species, somewhat resembling ascocisccina and named so, is
characterized by the indislinct thallus, sessile apothecia, high thecium
and large spores, and especiallv bv the branched tips of the paraphyses
wilh granules and by the positive Pd-reaction in the gonidial stratum,
hitherto not found in a corticolous Rinoclina species.

Thallus evanescens vel a verrucis minulis, dispersis, fuscescentibus
forma lus. Apothecia crebra, sessilia, basi valde conslricla, mediocria,
disco fuscoatro, piano, laevigato, margine crasso regulari, prominente,
pallide rufofusco cincto. Cortex basalis crassus, distincte cellulosus, 1 .
Thecium altuin, apicibus paraphysarum leviler incrassatis. Sporae
majusculae, pariete apicali inlus convexo, septo tenui.
Exs.: Cumm. 262 (Gbg, S.) s. n. It. sophodes d. confragosa.
The thalline verrucae apparently initials of apothecia. These 0.5—
0.8(1) mm across.
Apothecia 0.35 0.45 mm thick with narrow, 0.4 mm broad base
(by 0.9 mm disc), pale part 250—200 ;j. deep; KOH—, Pd—. Margin
70—100 [j. thick, al edge filled wilh 9—15 ij. large gonidia, continuous
