CANADA TO BRITAIN (Sundays at
1915 and Tuesdays at 2215 GMT).
A series of half-hour plays written by
leading Canadian radio authors, and
produced by Robert Allen.
Jan. 4 and Jan. 6—‘The Life of a Man” by
Joseph Schull. The sympathetic story of a
man who lived as other men, but always
alone.
Jan. 11 and Jan. 13—“Happily Ever After”
by Gordon Burwash. A play about a girl
who discovers that life isn’t always like
the movies, and that people are sometimes
deeper, if less dazzling, than the silver
screen.
Jan. 18 and Jan. 20—"A Certain Guy
Named Jerry” by Della Foss. The tale of a
pioneer who rode in an airplane instead of a
covered wagon, and how he convinced a
girl that the Laurentians are as big as the
Alps.
a 25 and Jan. 27—"The Little Gray
Schoolhouse’’ by Len Peterson. The story
of the perils and pleasures which befell a
young lady who went to teach in that
typical institution in rural Canada . . . the
one-roomed school.

THE TOWN GROWS UP (Mondays
at 2215 and Wednesdays at 1/15
GMT). A series of Canadian radio
plays by the Western writer Elsie
Park Gowan. Each play dramatizes
an episode in the life of an average
small Canadian town.

Jan. 5 and 7—‘‘Turn on the Water”

Jan. 12 and 14—"Six Cents for a Mule”

Jan. 19 and 21—"The Red Monster”

Jan. 26 and 28—“Gentleman with Bright
Buttons”

Stories

SHORT STORIES (Sundays at 1630
GMT). Tales written in all forms of
contemporary fiction by young Cana-
dian writers in all parts of the
country.

I COVER THE WATERFRONT
(Tuesdays at 2245 GMT). Pat Terry,
who covered for many years the
waterfront beat for one of Canada’s
West Coast newspapers, brings to the
microphone a series of marine yarns
. . . legends and true stories of ships
sailing from Canadian seaports, and
of the men who sail these ships.

The Alouette Quartet sings the songs of French
Canada in the series “Concert from Canada”

(Thursdays at 2215 GMT).

YOUNG IDEAS (Saturdays and
Sundays at 1700 GMT). A series of
stories for young people of all ages.

Sports

SPORTS WEEK (Saturdays at 1715
and 2200 GMT). A weekly round-up
of Canadian sports highlights.
HOCKEY (Mondays at 2230 GMT).
Throughout the winter season fast-
moving play-by-play descriptions of
games played by Canada’s best hockey
teams will be broadcast from arenas
from coast to coast.

Other Programs

LISTENERS’ CORNER (Fridays at
2215 CMP) Liston Burns and
Patricia FitzGerald talk to listeners,
comment on their letters, answer their
questions about Canada and about
programs, and play music requested
in these letters.

PROGRAM PREVIEW (Daily at
2130 GMT). Daily announcements
are made on forthcoming programs.
